Joseph Carter III, address unknown, was apprehended by Westport Police around 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4, after responding to the CVS Pharmacy on Post Road East in Westport for a report of a shoplifter, Westport Police said.
Employees told officers Carter was observed placing items in a brown paper bag and then fled the store when approached by employees, police said.
Employees provided officers a description of Carter who was located a short distance away and taken into custody.
The stolen items, valued in excess of $1,300, were also located and recovered, police said.
Carter was charged with felony larceny and released on a promise to appear ticket. He is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 13.
